How do you learn?

On your first day you will experience a hypnotic trance. And you will learn how to hypnotise other people on the course – and do it. You will be hypnotised by a fellow student on weekend 1. Not weeks into the course. On the first Sunday you will be using a basic metaphor hypnotherapy script to your ‘client’.

This course moves fast and to CCH Practice Makes Perfect. To us PMP is one of our mantras.

We go from basics – on Day 1 we assume you have no hypnotherapy or psychology skills at all. That is how we prefer it. We start you off on basic Clinical Hypnotherapy Practitioner skills. After some days of training we move up to higher level work. Your are training gives you every skill, technique, template and protocol you need. You will learn all that you need for the GHR accreditation and so much more on top.You are not overburdened with loads of out-of-date psychological theory. You get everything you need to be a Clinical Hypnotherapy Practitioner.

GHSC awards the General Qualification in Hypnotherapy Practice (GQHP). It is available to all graduates that join them. This is the industry standard course. It is generally recognised as being equal to a Level 4 qualification.

What you get on the Clinical Hypnotherapy Practitioner course

You will need to understand the basics before you can move onto the hypnotherapy for children part of the course. You will do some theory during the course. But quite a lot of the classroom time is for demonstrations and your practice sessions.

Much of the theory is completed in your own time from the 20 manuals and recordings provided.

These videos are from previous courses; so it is as if you were in that lesson as part of the group.

The videos are of 6 weekends of live hypnotherapy training. Plus 2 weekends of the NLP Practitioner course. So all-in-all you get the around 16 days of training to watch as many times as you like.

The videos are on an external drive. This will also include pdfs’ of the manuals. Plus pdf’s of scripts for many problems and an assortment of ‘Bonus’ items that will be of use to you.

Printed manuals are in a folder and given to you on the first day. The NLP manual is not printed as much of this work is home study.

Demonstrations – it is a necessity to take part. As are student practice sessions; being hypnotised by a fellow student. These sessions will be observed and marked

Why this course is different to most others

This Clinical Hypnotherapy Practitioner course is our own. Written by Richard Wain, for Cressingham College of Hypnotherapy. We do not teach a course written by someone else years ago.

The course undergoes regular revision. Until recently this course had 15 modules we now have 20 due to being rewritten and much more content added.

We are not part of a nationwide franchise that sells exactly the same course all over the country.

Level 3 NLP Practitioner Course

This module is a significant part of the Hypnotherapy Practitioner course.

Basic Ericksonian language patterns are integrated into the NLP Practitioner training. This NLP Practitioner training utilises the parts of NLP useful for therapy. It is a Therapeutic NLP Practitioner course.

In the 1950s, Milton H. Erickson developed a radically different approach to hypnotism. This become known as Ericksonian hypnotherapy or Neo-Ericksonian hypnotherapy. Erickson made use of an informal conversational approach with many clients. Also complex language patterns, and therapeutic strategies. The effects of which are rapid and very powerful.

Ericksonian hypnotherapy uses indirect suggestions as they are much harder to resist. Usually they are not recognised by the conscious mind as suggestions. This is because they are usually disguised as stories or metaphors.

Combined HypnotherapyPractitioner and Children's Hypnotherapy

What are you going to get on the Children's Hypnotherapy part of the course?

You will get the manuals totalling over 700 pages of solid information. The only one printed for you is Weekend 1. All the rest are supplied as pdf’s. You can print them if you wish or bring a tablet/laptop to follow the course on. They are not supplied at the beginning of the course – they are given as required. (If you pay in full you may ask for all the course materials).

This is a Level 5 course and is set at that difficulty. All the work has to be completed to pass.

This includes:

  • 30 ‘supervised’ practice sessions. These are can be practice on a teddy bear, the cat but some must be anyone 6-17 years of age. These must be either written up or audio recorded for marking and critique.
  • A portfolio of evidence must be kept – I will explain it on Day 1
  • The usual self-guided study expected of a Level 5 post-grad. courseTake a Safeguarding Children course and get a certificate before the end of the course. Why is this programme different to other Children’s

3 girls talking about combined hypnotherapy

In combined course we look at childhood friendships

Hypnotherapy training providers?

How are we different to other Children’s Hypnotherapy providers? There are several other organisations offering Children’s Hypnotherapy training for

registered hypnotherapists. They claim you will be a Children’s Hypnotherapist after the course. Some are 1 or 2 day Master Classes. Others are few online videos to watch with a quiz at the end.

It is my personal opinion that this not the right training for therapists. Especially to work with children and adolescents with emotional issues. (I dare say that many will disagree with me). Children’s brains do not work the same an adults. he therapist has to understand this these differences to benefit the child’s recovery.

We offer a very in depth 10 day Post Graduate course accredited to a Level 5. If you are going to specialise in working with children you need to understand them.

It covers the following:

  • “Old school” Standard Solution Focused Hypnotherapy for Children and Adolescents using scripts
  • Enhanced Metaphor work both with and without scripts
  • Advanced Conversational Hypnosis and other techniques for Children and Adolescents
  • The Neuroscience behind Story-telling. And how the human brain is ‘hard-wired’ to react to stories.
  • Child Development
  • Dysfunctional Family Dynamics
  • The Importance of Children’s Friendships and Relationships
  • Child Psychology*
  • Working With and Coaching Children and Adolescents*
  • Mindfulness for Children and Adolescents**
  • EFT for Children and Adolescents**
  • Play Therapy for Children**

These are the main points please see the course page for full details.

* These two courses are the mainstay for over 50% of the course. They will form a major part of our class manual work. Optional: Each comes with assessment papers. At the end of the programme you will gain a Level 3 diploma in Child Psychology. And one in Coaching Children and Young Adults.

** Much the work in the final 3 modules is self-directed learning. Which become Level 3 Diploma qualifications in their own right.

Hypnotherapy for children and adolescents standards of training includes a portfolio of evidence Assessments

There is no final written exam at the end of the Combined Hypnotherapy Practitioner and Children's Hypnotherapy Programme. All Level 3/4 courses have module assessments to complete

You will have feedback throughout the course. If you are having problems they will discuss them with you – we want you to pass. You must complete all elements of the course before your diploma can be awarded.

You will not get your qualification until all coursework is to the required standard. The time limit on this course is 12 months but do not use this as an excuse to not complete homework and assessments. Once you get behind it becomes more difficult to complete the work required.

You will need retain a portfolio of your recordings, scripts and question answers. This is for possible moderation by a representative of ACCPH. This portfolio should be digital not paper based.

Course duration of this combined programme:

The combined programme is 24 days: 12 weekends 4 weeks apart. Due to the amount of time required for self study and practice sessions. You get an extra 12 weeks time to complete all the course work.

You will receive 160 hours of classroom teaching. Estimated time required to complete the course is 600 hours. This is across the 12 months of attendance and extra 12 week for coursework. (Many people will take less time than that). This includes the 30 sessions of practice required for the Level 5 qualification.
