ABOUT Cressingham Insititute of Clinical Hypnosis – a further message from Richard Wain
The Cressingham Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy is a division of Cressinghams and was formerly known as Hypnotherapy-NLP Training, which we still use as our web address.
I have been involved in training people since 1978 when I trained all levels of staff for the Allders Group. I have been conducting accredited courses training Life and Business Coaches since 1992, NLP Practitioners since 2001 and Hypnotists/Hypnotherapists since 2002. Between 1994 an 2007 I was also an Upper Pay Scale teacher of Psychology and Science for a consortium of three large schools in the London Borough of Bexley, where I was also involved in staff training, especially NLP techniques and coaching staff who were having difficulties.
I am a member of the UK Register of Learning Providers. (Provider number - UKPRN: 10023237).
The UK Register of Learning Providers is an official website designed to be used by government departments, other agencies, learners, and employers to share key information about learning providers across agencies such as, the Learning and Skills Council, the National Learning Directory, the Higher Education Statistics Agency, the Higher Education Funding Council for England and UCAS.
Why train with the Cressingham Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy?
When choosing a clinical hypnotherapy or clinical hypnosis training course, I am well aware that it can be somewhat confusing and difficult to decide which course would suit you best. The same is just as true for NLP Practitioner and Life Coaching training courses too. So I have listed what I feel are the main benefits of training with CICH.
1 - You need to feel confident that you are receiving quality training. You can buy courses for a couple of hundred pounds, or less, and be given a 'Diploma'. The problem is you learn from the given texts, answer questions from those texts and NEVER work with a client, yet you pass. Can you see the major problem with these courses?... So can insurance companies. All of our training courses for hypnotherapy, hypnosis, NLP and coaching are recognised by all leading insurance companies. We operate our own scheme which is available to all graduates.
2 - Our centre is located a few minutes from the M25 Dartford Crossing and is very easy to get to. The local train station is a few minutes walk away.
3 - I do not charge high fees. I am mindful that people are changing careers or looking to earn a second income so cost could be important to them; that you may be staying in a local B&B or hotel or commuting everyday. All of these things add to your costs.
4 - After your training is complete I offer you supervision for a whole year.
5 - I am a qualified teacher, (PGCE), of Science and A Level Psychology as well as a highly experienced hypnotherapist, NLP Practitioner and Life Coach, running a busy practice in Bexley, SE London. I am the SE London and Kent Network Coordinator for the British Institute of Hypnotherapy & NLP. Therefore I know my subject and how to teach. (Please see the About Richard Wain page).
Check the credentials of other trainers that you are considering.
6 - There is no federal regulation of hypnotherapy in the UK, however there are National Occupational Standards and strict guidelines produced by the UKCHO. I adhere to them rigidly. Not all other trainers meet these standards.
7 - I have a simple philosophy: I am a full-time practitioner, which means my main income is from seeing clients, so I can “walk the walk” as well as “talk the talk”. I use examples of real-life clients to illustrate both theory and practice. Not all trainers are successful practitioners. All of our tutors are very experienced Hypnotherapy and NLP practitioners in private practice.
I have thousands of hours of counselling, psychotherapy and hypnotherapy experience so I have significant experience in the way people present at a sessions. I treat them in a multi-therapy approach – I pass on many of these skills during training courses. It also includes an NLP Practitioner course too.
8 -The Home Study aspect of the Clinical Hypnosis course includes a large amount of specifically written in-depth psychotherapy and psychology training.
9 - I was trained by a brilliant instructor – he gave lots of demonstrations and plenty of practice time and I believe it is critically important that you see both demonstrations of techniques and also get plenty of practice on using them. This gives you the ability to ‘work’ on ‘real people’ as soon as possible. You will usually see work carried out by me on real clients who have volunteered to be demonstrated on. This is real therapy so please give these people your utter respect.
10 - I am a member of the UK Confederation of Hypnotherapy Organisations register of therapists. They insist that schools train to minimum standards of 120 hours face to face tuition and 330 hours of private/home study time. I agree to these principles and adhere to them.
11 - It is my belief that you should be able to see a full syllabus before you start any of my courses. The online details show all the complete elements of all courses. You know what you are going to get.
12 - I also supply, free of charge, a Practice Promotion and Management course. This is a Home Study unit. Therapists often fail in business because they don’t know how to get clients or run a practice. (You can book onto the Business Coaching course which deals with this in far greater detail).
13 - All Hypnotherapy and NLP courses are accredited by The British Institute of Hypnotherapy & NLP. The practitioner course allows full membership of the BIH, the General Hypnotherapy Register and the register of the UKCHO. All NLP courses are accredited by the NLP Association as well.
14 - All practitioner courses allow you to obtain full liability insurance at a special discounted rate. This discounted rate is only available when you have qualified and apply with a copy of your Diploma.
15 - I see being a relatively small enterprise as a great advantage. It means there is far greater control of how the courses operate, I revise them regularly and our trainers are involved in all these processes. Being small also allows me to keep the number of delegates lower which in turn enables the trainers to develop a real and tangible rapport with each individual. The effect of this is noticeable as each person is more at ease, learns more and has a greater sense of enjoyment and satisfaction during the course. You can be confident that with us you will receive some of the finest training available. We strive to maintain a very high standard in every aspect of our seminars and courses by constant revision from feed-back and new research, etc. I believe that a ‘hands on’ and experiential method of teaching is paramount to successful learning so we involve all participants in many activities during their training.
16 - Should you choose CICH I will endeavour to give you an experience that will not only change your career, (be it in business or a new path in life), but which is likely to change you and your perception of yourself and others, for the better.
17 - Ethics are very important in hypnotherapy as you will be working with vulnerable people. I use the ones provided by the UKCHO. Check with other training schools to see which, if any, code of ethics they subscribe to.
18 - I am a member of the Federation of Small Businesses and offer all fellow members and their employees 10% off the price of all seminars and courses. (This discount is not applicable if a greater discount is being given in a Special Offer).
